Best Western Hotels & Resorts Acquires Sweden Hotels

5/25/2017
Best Western Hotels & Resorts announced the exciting addition of Sweden Hotels – one of Scandinavia’s largest hotel groups – to the Best Western global family.  As a result of the acquisition, Best Western Hotels & Resorts is now the largest hotel brand in Sweden, totaling 135 properties across the country – leading with 55 more properties than its next competitor.

Founded in 1977, Sweden Hotels has provided quality hotel solutions to Scandinavia for more than 40 years. By adding 59 properties to the growing Best Western family, the brand’s guests are provided with increased opportunities to participate in the award-winning Best Western Rewards (BWR) program and even more destinations to visit.

In addition, extending the company’s presence in Sweden makes Best Western a stronger partner to its business travel and leisure managed accounts and distribution partners in Scandinavian markets.

“Best Western is always on a quest to grow our offerings around the globe,” said David Kong, president and CEO of Best Western Hotels & Resorts. “The opportunity to broaden our footprint with a quality partner like Sweden Hotels is one that we couldn’t turn down. We look forward to what I’m confident will be a longstanding and prosperous venture.”

The partnership with Best Western will provide hotels in Scandinavia enhanced support to meet the needs of contracted corporate business. Sweden Hotels will now be able to supply their hotels with better distribution, customer relations, marketing and purchasing.  The partnership will also assist Best Western with the expansion of its new brand, SureStay Hotel Group.

“It is a distinct pleasure to welcome Sweden Hotels to Best Western. This partnership brings together two esteemed hotel companies looking to grow business competencies and better serve customers,” said Johan Kukacka, CEO of Best Western Hotels & Resorts, Scandinavia.  “We have already started the discussion with individual Sweden Hotels owners regarding the integration and they are excited about the new opportunities that are being presented.”

Best Western continues to expand at an accelerated pace.  Since December, the company has welcomed 56 hotels internationally, and its global portfolio today stands at more than 4,200 hotels in more than 100 countries.
