As international travel and in-person conferences and events return, Waverly Labs is expanding its mission to break down language barriers by introducing new voice and language solutions for global communication. Making debuts at CES and with the ability to translate 20 languages and 42 dialects are SUBTITLES, a two-sided customer service counter display facilitating hygienic, safe in-person interactions, AUDIENCE, a translation solution allowing speakers and lecturers to communicate with auditorium attendees, and an updated version of the AMBASSADOR INTERPRETER, the over-the-ear device providing near-simultaneous audio and text translations.

Fast, Fluid, and Fluent

Waverly Labs has ushered in a new generation of live translation by combining the latest speech recognition, machine translation, and adaptable hardware technology. Its core technology captures speech, processes it in the cloud, and delivers translations to various devices and solutions optimized for different businesses and use cases. The new devices and software additions are so fast and accurate they can handle ongoing fluid conversations with people in a natural and unimpaired way. They are so sophisticated they can translate conversations with multiple users, all receiving different language translations simultaneously.

Waverly Labs offers audio and text translations across multiple devices and services, in over 20 languages and 42 dialects including: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, Greek, Russian, Hindi, Turkish, Polish, Chinese Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, Hebrew, Thai, Vietnamese and Dutch.

Counter Customer Service Not Lost In Translation

Developed during the pandemic to facilitate safe, face-to-face bilingual communications, Subtitles by Waverly Labs is the perfect solution for customer service interactions in various businesses. From hotels to hospitals, banks to airlines or restaurants to retail, the double-sided, double display touchscreen device, allows for fast and accurate communication.

After selecting the desired languages, users simply talk naturally. Spoken words are translated and displayed as text on the opposite person’s screen in their chosen language and in near real-time. Subtitles uses two 3840 (H) × 1100 (V) screens, a connected processing unit and a mic array that captures conversation and sends them to the cloud. The proprietary technology allows users to communicate like watching a subtitled movie and reading what the other person said. Equally useful in hearing-impaired communications, Subtitles is a powerful tool for multiple customer facing businesses.

Translation for Standing Ovations

Audience by Waverly Labs is a translation solution for lectures, educators, and conference event organizers that allows any presenter to converse with a room regardless of what language they or their audience speak. It is a versatile app that allows audience members to select and enjoy translations on their own mobile device.

Speech is captured from the speaker’s mic (whatever solution they use to present), where it is then processed and translated in the cloud. Audience members who desire translation use their phones or tablets to join the session via a unique code or scanning a QR code. Once in the session, audiences select their language and can view the translation as text on their device or hear it as audio using their device and earbuds with minimal lag.

For conference organizations and educators, Audience by Waverly Labs opens opportunities to facilitate presentations with large multicultural, multilanguage crowds as easily as talking to a neighbor or friend.

Personal Translation Gets More Edge

The Ambassador Interpreter 2.0 also makes its debut at CES, boasting a sleeker look and improved speech capture for faster, more accurate translations. Worn over-the-ear, the prosumer device offers a highly accurate and natural interpretation experience allowing multiple users to engage in free-flowing conversations.

It uses an advanced far-field microphone array combined with speech recognition neural networks to capture speech with astounding levels of clarity. It then seamlessly processes speech with cloud-based machine translation engines to deliver fast, fluid, and highly accurate translations. Its three modes offer personal, small group, and one-on-one translations:

  1. Listen mode:  In this mode, Ambassador Interpreter provides seamless personal translations. It actively listens for someone speaking in the selected language around it (within 2.5 meters/8 feet) and will automatically translate to the user in their native language. Translations are delivered audibly within the device and/or as text with the accompanying app.
  2. Lecture mode: In this mode, Ambassador Interpreter will broadcast the words of a speaker wearing the device to multiple people in a lecture, conference, or group setting. Once selected, Ambassador Interpreter will capture the speech of the user and stream audio translations to their smartphone, which can be played over its loudspeaker or paired to any audio system.
  3. Converse mode: This mode allows up to four users to engage in multi-way communications while each is wearing an Ambassador Interpreter device (sold in pairs). Each user sets the languages they want to detect and receive, and people can partake in fluid, natural conversations.

“We are on a mission to bridge global communications by building a world without language barriers, ” said Andrew Ochoa, Founder and CEO of Waverly Labs.  “We built a core translation technology for seamless conversations and are delighted to showcase Subtitles and Audience, our latest solutions, at CES along with the enhanced Ambassador Interpreter. While leveraging the same tech architecture, each solution’s hardware and experience are tailored to its unique use case. Waverly Labs Subtitles, Audience, and Ambassador Interpreter devices are created to eliminate language barriers. Everyone can travel, converse, and educate freely wherever they want to, without the concern of being lost in translation.”

Subtitles and Audience will be available in Q2, 2022.  The improved Ambassador Interpreter is currently available, priced $179.  For more information, please visit: www.waverlylabs.com.  Demos of each of these solutions will be available during CES at the Waverly Labs Booth (Halls A-C Booth#54844).
