Pizza Hut Kicks Off NFL Sponsorship with AR

Coinciding with its first year as the Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL, Pizza Hut is introducing a lineup of new experiences and partnerships, including a limited edition pizza box that can be used to play an Augmented Reality (AR) game.

New NFL pizza boxes tie in with augmented reality app experience.

Pizza Hut's special edition pizza box features all 32 NFL team marks  and can be used in conjunction with the brand’s Beanbag Blitz app, a recreation of the game cornhole. Users can use the app to play cornhole with the limited-edition NFL pizza boxes via AR technology.

Zipporah Allen, Chief Marketing Officer, Pizza Hut, U.S., said, "Incorporating this AR component into our lineup of new experiences is broadening our digital portfolio and engaging fans in a completely new way."

Once the app is downloaded to an iOS or Android device, players have the option to unlock the AR component by lining their camera up with the top of the special-edition box. Once unlocked, the game is played as it normally would be, as a team of two taking turns tossing beanbags onto the virtual cornhole board with the flick of a finger.

In related news, Pizza Hut has developed a new digital platform within Hut Rewards called Game Plan that allows fans to access special deals, receive kickoff reminders for their favorite NFL team and enter to win a different football-themed prize every week.
